Our Family
The first day on the job for Robert Bloss, owner of Vinyl Sash of Michigan, was February 2, 1969, when the company was still called Weather Seal. Robert was working as a butcher at the West-side Meat Market, and a good friend already working in a sales position asked him if he would be interested in taking his sales job. Despite having no previous sales experience, Robert said yes.
When he first started at Weather Seal, windows were made of wood and aluminum, and they shifted to vinyl construction in early 1971 to make them more efficient.
The shift toward more energy-efficient windows was helped along by a tax credit for consumers, and that was the catalyst for growth.
On March 1, 1982, Robert purchased the Grand Blanc office of Vinyl Sash. He inherited a talented team of both construction and sales staff, and together they began building and selling windows out of their Grand Blanc location. The vision was to become the go-to company for both residential and commercial windows by being cost efficient, having a quicker turnaround, and pioneering new product improvements for our customers.
Windows have continued to become more energy efficient over time. In the 90’s the glass changed to Low E & Argon gas filled. As for Vinyl Sash, it continues to be a family-focused business. Today, Robert’s son, Ryan Bloss, is the General Manager. He started out sweeping floors and building windows, and now his two sons, Garrett and Trevor, are doing the same thing. His daughter, Jordynn is Ryan’s office manager. They are all leading the third generation charge to become even better for their customers.
Robert’s younger brothers are also a vital part of the business. Mitch runs the manufacturing of our windows, and Mike oversees the installation and service departments, and his nephew Robbie is a crew leader and installer for sunrooms.
The people inside and outside our company are the reasons we show up!
